Carey, who stands nearly 5'10, was once a leading American modeling model. Famous designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren loved her. Her father, an accomplished scientist, who was awarded the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of the Year prize, is a renowned geoscientist. Carey went to all over the world in honor of her father's efforts. While she was at an institution called the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. She lived in France for a short time, including Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned home to New York for her college study and further to build her modeling career. She studied full-time at New York University, obtaining her degree in literature between modeling assignments. She became more interested in acting, and began taking classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. The year 1986 was the year she had her first role in acting as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She is a rock climber, skiing, and windsurfing.
